Aurora Selection Philosophy
People often ask me what I look for first when choosing pearls. Most expect the answer to be shape, size, or how flawless a pearl appears.
For me, it’s always luster.
Not because it’s the most expensive quality, but because it’s the one thing that makes a pearl feel alive.
A pearl with beautiful luster changes throughout the day. It responds to light, movement, and even the warmth of your skin.
Sometimes I’ll look at the same pearl in the morning, by a window in the afternoon, and again before sunset. It never looks exactly the same twice.
That’s what keeps me interested. When I select pearls for Aurora, I don’t look for perfection. I look for balance.
The glow, the shape, the surface, the feeling they create together. Some pearls are perfectly round but leave me feeling nothing. Others have small imperfections, yet somehow feel impossible to put down.
Those are usually the ones that catch my attention.
Every pearl at Aurora is chosen individually. Not because every pearl is rare, but because every pearl is different.
I don’t try to find identical pearls. I try to find pearls with character. The older I get, the less interested I am in things that all look the same.
I think that’s one reason I continue to love pearls. No two are ever exactly alike.
At Aurora, I don’t choose pearls because they are perfect. I choose them because they carry light in a way that feels memorable.
And years from now, I hope they’re still the pieces you reach for without thinking.
